Primary qualifications are:

Giving Blood:
Donate Every 90 Days
Thailand would not have a problem if we all donated regularly!
Stay Hydrated. Drink plenty of water the day before and on the day of donation.
Eat a Healthy Meal
Have a balanced meal rich in iron (e.g., spinach, beans, meat) to avoid feeling lightheaded. Avoid fatty foods as they can affect the blood testing process.
Get Enough Sleep
Aim for at least 7-8 hours of good sleep the night before.
Check Eligibility
Ensure you meet the age, weight (usually above 50 kg), and health criteria.
Avoid donating if you’re feeling unwell, pregnant, or have certain medical conditions.
Bring Identification
Have a government-issued ID or any required documents for registration.
Avoid Alcohol and Smoking
Refrain from alcohol for 24 hours before donation. Avoid smoking at least 2 hours before donating.
Be Honest About Medications
Inform staff about any medications or vaccinations you’ve recently taken.
What to Expect at the Center
You’ll undergo a mini health check for blood pressure, hemoglobin levels, and overall fitness.
Taking these precautions will help ensure a smooth donation experience.
After Blood Donation :
• Rest for a while. Getting up abruptly may cause nausea.
• Drink the beverage prepared for you and drink a lot of water for 1 day.
• Make sure you feel all right before leaving.
• In case of dizziness, tell the nurse immediately.
• Take the prescribed iron tablet once a day to prevent iron deficiency.
• To prevent bruises and swelling, avoid using the punctured arm for 12 hours.
• Avoid activities that use too much energy and cause perspiration.
Donate Regularly :
There is always a shortage of RH- Blood. A-, B-, AB-, O-. Foreigners (including Myanmar) have a much better chance of having RH- Blood.
Beyond that, there is always a need for all blood types.
Please give regularly (every 90 days)
Please do not give blood if :
• You or your partner have been involved in sexual intercourse with a male or female prostitute without using condoms during the past 3 months.
• You or your spouse have been or are intravenous drug users.
• You have tested positive for HIV.
Restrictions? :
Thailand has removed restrictions for donors from the UK, Ireland, and France regarding Mad Cow Disease. If you have UK 🇬🇧, French or Irish friends who live in Bangkok or near a Regional Red Cross blood center (Chiang Mai, Phuket, Chonburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen) please inform them that the UK 🇬🇧, etc., donors are welcomed back. But only at the large regional blood banks and the National Blood Centre.
The best that any of us can do is to educate the eligible International Community to donate.
